Mission Possible in Russia
 


Brief History

Mission Possible's work for Russia started in mid 1970's. We distributed Bibles, teaching materials and help to the Church behind the iron curtain. After the early 1990's when the political system changed, our largest projects were as follows:

Distribution of 4 mill. pcs of Scripture and other Biblical books printed by the Bible League
Training children's Sunday school educators who further trained app. 9000 local Sunday school teachers
Training 1000 church workers and supporting 164 church planters in 1992-1994


Projects Today

Help for the needy: Today, our largest project in Russia is street children's work, we reach app. 1000 children a year. Tens of children every year are helped off the street.

Education: MP's IEF Bible course has app. 1000 students in Russia. We also distribute church libraries.

Evangelism: In addition to this, we are involved in Church Planting in Udmurtia.

Moscow

Director: Gennadi Dolbin

Street patrol since 1995 and shelter home since 1997

Since 1995 our street patrol has worked regularly with 10,000 different children, helping hundreds off the street
Shelter home for street children and children of parents at drug rehabilitation
Children of parents at drug rehabilitation Moscow shelter home in the outskirts of the city houses 20-25 children


Yaroslav Farm and Drug Rehabilitation Center

Farming and drug rehabilitation since 2000.

The farm operates under our Moscow center and is an important ministry base where young people and street children's parents become free from their drug addtictions.

The farm also serves as a summer place for shelter home children.

The dormitory is packed as 45 people are on rehabilitation + six staff members.
Through large agriculture activities we maintain the center and produce food also for the Moscow home.
Through Christian rehabilitation tens of young and older people have found the Lord and a new direction for their lives.


St. Petersburg

Street patrol and day center since 1997 and shelter home since 2005.

Director: Slava Vashenko

Mission Possible street patrol in St. Petersburg has been working since 1997.
After running several years a day center we in the spring of 2005 started a shelter home for street children.
The housing of children has begun. The home can house 8-10 children.


Krasnoyarsk

Street patrol and shelter home since 2000.

Director: Lyuba Epanchinceva

Krasnoyarsk is one of world's coldest cities. Nevertheless, there are numerous street children, even under the age of 10, who are homeless and seek shelter in basements.
Our patrol visits several locations in these harsh circumstances, bringing hot meals and arranging baths and medical care.
Krasnoyarsk shelter home houses 16 children. Every year new children are housed as places to live in have been found for the older children.


Ekaterinburg

Street patrol since 2004, day center 2005.

Director: Natasha Ivanova

A 1,3 million city on the Ural mountains, Ekaterinburg has thousands of homeless children and youth.
The children ive in basements and pipe tunnels. There are also very young children.
Since April 2004 MP's patrol reaches out to hundreds of children and has already helped many of them off the street.


Church Planting

Church planting program in Udmurtia.
Eight national missionaries supported in 2004-2005. Each evangelized 5 villages and towns.
40 new churches and groups with 15-40 members have resulted so far from their ministry.


International Education Fellowship Bible Course

Director: Vadim Taran

IEF consists of 60 books and 3 levels. It is a self-study course and arranged by local churches.

In the course of the years, thousands of students have finished the curriculum. At the moment there are app. 1000 IEF students in Russia and the same number in Ukraine.

IEF covers a wide range of topics and serves as a good foundation for church ministries. On the picture studens from Asbest area, the Urals.
